Hippy Boho Bag Free Pattern

Hey there Hookers! 

Hope you all are getting the best out of the last bit of summer, I know I am. 

I haven't been able to crochet as much as I used to since having Jackson in January, but now that hes 7 months old and sleeping better with naps and bedtime, I FINALLY have some time to work on new stuff.

First up I tried out the Urban Gypsy Boho Bag by Make & Do Crew.

I was a little intimidated, not gonna lie, but it turns out I had nothing to worry about! The author of this pattern explained every detail from the stitches, to how to sew it together. It made making this gorgeous and unique bag a breeze! 

You can bet I'll be making more of these!

Recent Finished Projects August 2018

Hey there hookers! 

I've come to show you some of the fun stuff I've been working on lately!

I tend to gravitate towards smaller projects in the hotter months. I like something I can finish quickly, that wont take up a lot of space in my lap or use a ton of yarn. One skein projects are key for me over the summer! 

So my usual go-to is this super quick and easy pattern for a mug cozy. You can find the Free Pattern Here! 

I'm working on some in some fall colors, and I plan on selling them in sets!

Funky Pom Pom Beanie Free Pattern

Hey everyone! 
Does anyone even still read this thing anymore?! 
I'm still here, and I'm still crocheting away. 

I have so many awesome things to share with you all! But I wanted to start off with one of my favorite beanies I've been wearing around this winter. I've been working on using up yarn in my stash, and I chose this funky blue yarn to start out with. 


I wasn't too font of the color by itself (hence why it's been sitting in my stash for years) but I decided to give it some life! I paired it with one of my favorite colors, turquoise by Red Heart. I used a large hook, and one strand of each yarn to quickly make this cozy beanie!

Materials:
1 Skein Homespun Multicolor yarn
1 Skein Red Heart Worsted Weight yarn
Size P (10.00MM) Hook


Stitch Key
ch - chain
dc - double crochet
sl st - slip stitch


Round 1: Using one strand of each yarn, make a magic circle, chain 2, 10 dc in magic circle. Sl st to first dc. 
Round 2: ch 2, 2 dc in same st and each st around. sl st to first dc.
Round 3: ch 2, 2 dc in same st. *1 dc in next st, 2 dc in next st* repeat around, ending with 1 dc in the last st. sl st to join.
Round 4-8: ch 2, 1 dc in same st and each st around. sl st to join. fasten off homespun yarn.
Round 9: using just ONE strand of yarn, ch 1, sc in each st around. sl st to join.
Round 10: repeat previous round. fasten off.

Free Pattern Review - Crochet Jellyfish

Hey there!

I'm so excited to share this with you today. I came across this pin on Pinterest that was just the cutest crochet jellyfish I have ever seen!

Usually I'd just say, "that's so cute! I wish I could make something like that!". Except this time, I decided to just give it a try. Why not?!

I was a little discouraged at first, thinking it didn't look like the picture. But if I've learned anything in my years of crocheting and following patterns, it's best to just follow what the designer says, and it always works out in the end!

 Not only did I finish the one I started, but I made TWO more! The pattern was very easy to follow, and they're so cute! If you've been wanting to try out something new, this is perfect for you.

Summer Style - Free Crochet Pattern Roundup

Hey there!

I hope you're out enjoying the summer, I know I am. As much as I've been out and about though, I cant put my hook down, as I'm sure many of you can understand. So I hunted down some great free summer crochet patterns for us all!

Tri-Colored Braided Infinity Scarf

Fall is finally here, and one of the first things I wanted to make for this season was this Braided Infinity Scarf designed by The Rookie Crafter! I've made a few of these before in a solid color and I loved them. I wanted to try it in three different colors and see how it looked!

I love making these because they are very simple and easy to put together. Any beginner who has learned to chain and double crochet can make one! There are also so many different color combinations you could make! Favorite sports teams, school colors, the possibilities are endless with these braided infinity scarves.

Going Headband Crazy! - Link to Free Pattern!

Hey there hookers!

I hope everyone is enjoying their spring! I know I am. I've been spending lots of time outside enjoying the weather, and even taking some trips to the beach!

I've also been enjoying making a few spring projects!

This one is just the beginning.

This headband is called the Thai Garden Headband (click on the name for the pattern).

 I spotted this pattern on Pinterest one day, and knew instantly that I had to try it. It looked simple and just perfect for the spring time!

It only took me about an hour to work up, and the flowers were fairly quick to make also. It's the perfect project to make if you need a quick gift, or want to make out like a bandit at craft fairs this season! 

I used Loops & Threads - Woolike Simili-Laine super fine yarn. This is my first time working with such lightweight yarn, but I liked it! I can't wait to make some more things with it for the spring and summer.

Spring Is Here! Photography Adventures

Believe it or not, even with all the snow around, spring has arrived! I'm anxious for the nicer weather, especially because of all the snow we've gotten this year. Needless to say... I am OVER IT! 

One of my favorite things to do in the spring is photography. I love taking pictures and finding beauty in ordinary life. I find old, vintage, and weird things most attractive. I enjoy looking at things from different vantage points as well; high up, down below, super close, or really far away. I like to make things as interesting as possible when taking photographs.

I have recently moved to a new area, and luckily am within walking distance of a lot of local businesses, as well as the beach! I've never lived this close to the ocean before, and I've been anxious to get a look and take some pictures! 

I used Picasa to edit these pictures. They were all taken with my iPhone, since my camera is still back in my old town. Still, I love the way these came out, and it was so nice to sit and relax at the beach for a while!

Lately I've been going through a rough patch, and had taken a break from blogging for a few months so that I can focus on myself and get back to where I needed to be mentally. Now that I'm feeling better, I'm more excited than ever to bring you guys some great crochet patterns, and maybe some other things too! This is the happiest I've ever been, and I'm really enjoying my new life. 

Spring Flowers! - Free Crochet Pattern Links

It's been such a long time since I've shared anything on here, and I'm very sorry for that. The good news is that I'm back, and have a LOT of great new things to share! The first is this awesome flower headband. 

The weather is getting nicer, the birds are starting to chirp, and even though it snowed 2 days ago, I can tell that spring is on its way! 

In honor of spring and the nice weather, I found a couple new patterns on Pinterest to try out and play with. The first free pattern had caught my eye MONTHS ago, and I just got around to trying it out. 

Its called the 6 Petal Puff Stitch Flower.

After making a handful of these in some fun colors (purple, turquoise, and yellow) my first thought was to make a blanket out of them like I'd seen on Pinterest originally. But then I thought about how adorable these little flowers were individually, and decided to make a headband to put them on. 

Let's be honest, I don't think my attention span is big enough to make hundreds of these flowers to make a blanket. I needed something a little smaller to accomplish.

The headband is by Cotton Gin Studios, and its called the Textured Headband.

I wanted something simple, not too flashy, and without a button closure (because I'm out of buttons at the moment, no other reason! ha)

The end result was this insanely adorable headband that's so comfy, and perfect for spring!

Perfect Purple Slouchy Hat - Free Pattern

Hey there hookers! ;)

It's almost Thanksgiving! And that means it's time for me to start thinking about Christmas gifts for family and friends, and how I can get them all done in time! I came up with this quick and easy pattern for an open stitch slouchy hat, and I know a handful of people on my gift list that would love one (or more!).

The hat is made using bulky weight yarn, so although it has an open look, it's actually very warm on your head. It could also be worn indoors for quick trips in and out of stores!

I realize it's been a long time since sharing anything, and I'm so sorry for that! This year has been tough on me to say the least, but it's finally crochet season again and that means my hook is on the move constantly!

I've never really been into making a lot of hats. If you've noticed, most of my patterns are bags, gloves, ear warmers, and cozies. I've been instantly drawn to those things from the start, and I've always had a difficult time making hats.

I'm glad to say I've moved way past my 'hat hating' phase, and have come up with some great simple free patterns for you all!! I have long hair now, and I love the way it looks when I have an adorable beanie to show off.

So here it is, a super simple, slightly slouchy crocheted beanie. I hope you enjoy! As always, any questions or comments can be left if you need any help or enjoyed the pattern so much you'd like to see more like it!

Materials: 

J Hook

1 Skein Worsted Weight Yarn

Stitch Abbreviations:

ch - chain

sc - single crochet

Super Simple Back To School Tote

Anyone who's spent some time on my blog knows I'm more than obsessed with bags. Especially tote bags. I have a ridiculous amount of crochet bags, in fact the first pattern I ever made was for a tote bag here! 

Since it's been a while that I've came out with a pattern, I decided to make something simple and easy. If you can single and double crochet, you can easily whip up this bag in a day or two.

Materials

H hook

2 skeins of worsted weight yarn (I used Red Heart Super Saver)

Color A: Grey

Color B: Turquoise

Stitch Guide (US terms)Ch - Chain

Chain 2 does NOT count as a stitch. Same goes with chain 1 at the beginning of each round.

It's been a very busy life for me lately, and thats left little time for this blog, but I really hope to change that soon. I've been crocheting when I can, but it's not nearly as much as I want to unfortunately :(

Toddler Weights and Spring Hats!

Hello again!!

I know, I know, I've been MIA for a very long time. I can assure you though it hasn't been by choice. I would MUCH rather be sitting and crocheting and blogging than running around doing what I've been doing the past few months. BUT that's life, and you've gotta learn to roll with the punches, right?!


Now that I'm into a new routine, I'm going to start making some more time for crochet and this blog. I hope you guys can bear with me!

I have had time to do a couple small projects over the past week, and I'll share them with you right now, along with the free patterns that you can use to make your own! It's not much, but its a small start to trying to build up my blog again. :)

I made this Toddler Weight Set (free pattern by Stitch 11 HERE) for Jude a few weeks ago, since he's been really into copying me while I exercise. Now he has his own little weights to play with! 

This beanie was made using the Emery Beanie FREE pattern by The Tiny Plum on Craftsy. 


It's not much, but that's what's been on my hook over the past week.. What about you?!

Braided Infinity Scarf - Pattern By Rookie Crafter

I stumbled across a picture of this braided infinity scarf on Pinterest (check out my crochet pattern board here!), and I was immediately intrigued by the idea. I couldn't wait to get my hook going and make one myself!

This is such a simple and easy design, as long as you can chain, double crochet, and braid, you're good! I made two scarves and am working on a third now. It's a great easy project to have on hand when you don't feel like focusing on a complicated pattern or stitch count.

I used 1 skein of Red Heart Soft yarn and an I hook. You can find the instructions on how to make your scarf at Rookie Crafters blog here.
